1955 Chevy Belair Hardtop Custom (No Post) – Total Restoration
Be prepared to cruise in style in this very cool custom 1955 Chevy Belair. It has been completely repainted and restored and is fitted with a one-of-a-kind stereo system. This super straight ’55 is truly a show stopper.
The VIN# is VC55N039274. According to my research, the VIN decodes as follows:
V = engine type = V-8
C = model = 2400 series Bel Air
55 = year manufactured = 1955
N = assembly plant = Norwood, Ohio
039274 = serial #
In January of 2001, this car was professionally re-painted in Glacier Blue with GM pearl white accents. The interior is a complimentary white leather with blue piping and is in excellent condition. In 2003, the engine compartment including the underside of the hood, firewall and wheel wells was repainted and detailed. In addition, the dash was also painstakingly repainted to it’s current splendor.
The engine is a mid 80’s Chevy 350 generating about 350 HP. It has a mild cam, Holley double pumper, aluminum high rise manifold, new dual exhaust with new ceramic coated headers, power front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The suspension is all modern with sway bars. Wheels and tires are brand new:
– American Racing Wheels (Billet Specialties Wheels also available)
– Continental Tires 225/55R17
The Trim plate located in the engine compartment reads as follows:
Style No. 55-110370 (indicates year and body style)
Body No. S 9972 (letter represents Fisher body plant. Numbers represent the body number at that plant)
Trim No. 519 Spec
Paint No. 614-EZI-N
TOP ACC. (indicates options car may have had but
not all plants stamped this)
Body by Fisher
The car also has power steering, AC, PS, PB, alarm, power keyless locks and air shocks in the rear.
This car was used as a demo car for the stereo company Precision Power and has in excess of $10,000 in stereo equipment installed. The sound system consists of:
* Alpine 3DA-7987 tuner in-dash CD with 3 disc magazine
* Precision Power EQ model #PAR-246
* 2 Precision Power tube amps with crossovers
* 2 (12) inch subs in the trunk
* Tweeters and mids in each kick panel.
The installation quality is tremendous and the sound in equally incredible.

Look at the attached pictures because I believe that words cannot adequately describe this car.
This car could not be rebuilt for under $50,000 not including the elaborate stereo system. Why build it if it’s already built?

Vehicle Condition – I have personally inspected and photographed this car. It is in incredible condition. This car has undergone a complete restoration just short of a frame off. The paint and interior are in fantastic shape. The chrome and engine bay are also incredible. The sound system is second to none since it was a demo car for a stereo company. Fit and finish are fantastic. This is a super straight example of classic American Iron. Cruise nights will never be the same again if you owned this car.
I invite any interested party to come to the Chicago area and personally inspect and drive this beauty. Seeing will surely be believing
This is truly an opportunity for a discerning collector to acquire a car that will always be a significant part of motoring history of the mid ’50s.
