1972 DeTomaso Pantera Road/Race Car Group 4 Inspired Super Fast 675HP
I am pleased to offer this professionally built 1972 DeTomaso Pantera custom road/race car.
This road/race car started out as a nuts and bolts restoration of a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera aimed at extracting maximum performance from the design envelope while using period styling cues from Group 4 Panteras. Every component and system of this car was examined and improved upon where possible without leaving the original design, and the results bear testimony to the work put into the car – it consistently runs 1:19’s on the Summit Point main track (for reference, that is the same speed as Porsche Cup cars) while still being completely streetable.
The restoration, done by renowned Pantera expert Ron McCall, took 18 months and was finished in October 2012.
History of the car:
Build date: July, 1972
VIN: THPNMD04104
Mileage: (41,361 miles on original odometer + 900 miles on new odometer)
First sold by Metro Lincoln-Mercury in Charlotte, NC in 1972
Current owner is the 4th owner. The previous owner purchased the car in January 1987 from the original dealer, Metro Lincoln-Mercury in Charlotte, NC. He drove the car for 5 years before taking it off of the road for restoration in 1992. For a variety of reasons, he was unable to complete the restoration and current owner purchased the disassembled car in April 2011. The restoration process took ~18 months and was finished in October 2012.
