1964 Impala SS 409 Convertible Red/Red
I am pleased to offer this beautifully restored 1964 Impala convertible. This car has been restored to replicate a 1964 SS 409 convertible. It was not originally an SS or equipped with a 409 (just wanna be clear on that).
The restorer went to the trouble however to source a date code correct 409 motor. To clarify – the engine block in this car is a date coded block from 1964, so it is as close to correct as possible, without being a numbers matching engine. Mileage on the odometer shows 27,553 miles but it cannot be confirmed.
VIN # is 41867J262878. Below is the break down of the VIN number:
4 = year = 1964

The car runs and drives very strong. The paint on the car looks to be a urethane clear coat finish. The car has been wet sanded and buffed to a smooth high gloss. This is truly a car that anyone would be proud to have in their collection. In addition, the restoration of the interior was done very well. The dash was fully restored, and all seats recovered. The door panels, rear interior trim panels, carpeting, convertible top and convertible top parade boot have also been replaced in the restoration process.
The car had a frame on restoration and the restorer did a nice job cleaning up the underside as you can see in the pictures. The engine bay area and truck compartment are also restored and detailed very nicely. There is a jack assembly in the trunk and a full size tire. The weather seals in the door jambs were also replaced, as well as the weather seal in the trunk. In addition, the power top works great.
A Brief History of the Impala |
The Chevrolet Impala is an automobile built by the Chevrolet division of General Motors. Ed Cole, Chevrolet’s chief engineer in the late 1950s, defined the Impala as a “prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen.” For many years, the Impala was the best selling automobile in the United States, and its 1965 sales of over one million units still stands as a record.
