Vintage Lord Elgin Men’s 14K Gold 21 Jewel Watch 1940’s
This vintage 14k Gold Lord Elgin men’s watch dates from the mid to late 1940’s. It features 14K yellow gold case with a very striking woven mesh metal bracelet.
The watch is powered by a 21-Jewel Elgin signed manual wind movement. It is an American made Elgin grade 559 with four adjustments
The dial appears very original and shows some wear as does the crystal (see pictures). It features a sub seconds dial at 6 O’clock.
This watch measures 22 mm across and 35 mm from lug tip to lug tip. I believe that the woven mesh part of the bracelet is also 14K gold, while the stretch section is marked 12K GF.
The outer case is marked: “W, 14K Gold”, while the inner case is marked “Cased and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co., 14K Gold, Wadsworth, E746087” The movement is marked: “Elgin, 559, U-S-A, 21 Jewels, T822830”
Due to age, watch is sold “as is”, not guaranteed water resistant and accuracy is not guaranteed.
The watch appears very unusual and distinctive with it’s metal mesh band. Not the usual croc or leather here. The overall condition is good and shows a nice original patina for it’s age.
I guarantee the authenticity of this classic Lord Elgin watch.
